Maujpur Playschool Principal Arrested Over Assault on 3-Year-Old Boy

The principal of a private playschool in northeast Delhi’s Maujpur has been arrested for allegedly failing to prevent the physical abuse of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy on the school premises, police said. The action follows the earlier arrest of a school attendant who was accused of assaulting the minor child.
According to the FIR, the boy's father approached police after noticing a marked change in his son's behaviour. The toddler had allegedly become fearful of going to school, showed fear around using the washroom, and was unable to sleep properly.
The family subsequently accessed CCTV footage from the school, which allegedly revealed that the child was assaulted between August 16 and August 18. The video footage purportedly showed the three-and-a-half-year-old being slapped, kicked, and pulled by his ears.
Following the discovery, the child was taken for medical examination. According to the complaint, an ENT specialist found swelling in the boy's eardrums and suspected physical abuse. A medical examination later officially recorded swelling on his left thigh as well as an abrasion near his left eye.
Police stated that allegations of inappropriate touching are also being investigated under the Pocso Act. Following the incident and subsequent arrests, the Delhi government ordered the sealing of the playschool premises.
