Delhi Logs 1,777 H1N1 Cases as Union Health Minister Reviews Preparedness

Union Health Minister JP Nadda held a review meeting on Friday with Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh to assess the capital’s preparedness for influenza and vector-borne diseases, following a rise in seasonal influenza cases across New Delhi.

According to official health data, H1N1 has emerged as the dominant strain among seasonal infections. Delhi has recorded a total of 2,392 influenza A cases this year, of which 1,777 are H1N1 infections.

During the review, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that hospitals across the capital are well-equipped to manage the caseload. He confirmed that healthcare facilities have sufficient capacity and that there is no shortage of hospital beds, medical personnel, drugs, or critical equipment.

“Delhi is fully prepared to deal with the present health situation. There is no shortage of beds, doctors, medicines or essential medical equipment and every patient will receive timely and appropriate treatment,” Singh said.

The government noted that daily tracking and surveillance of cases is underway through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme. Under this programme, authorities are actively monitoring instances of influenza-like illness, severe acute respiratory infections, and confirmed influenza cases across the city.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda emphasised the need for community outreach, calling for greater participation from municipal councillors and local administrative bodies to generate public awareness regarding the prevention and management of seasonal diseases.
