Police Arrest Two Hitmen After Shootout in Northwest Delhi, Thwart Doctor's Murder

Delhi Police Crime Branch personnel intercepted and arrested two hitmen linked to gangster Himanshu Bhau after a car chase and shootout in northwest Delhi, foiling an assassination attempt on a doctor.
Investigators learned that Bhau had issued death threats and extortion demands to Dr Narendra Sharma, owner of RRM Hospital in Bakkarwala. Following intelligence inputs that two shooters had been dispatched to murder the doctor, police launched an operation to thwart the plot.
According to Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) HGS Dhaliwal, Crime Branch sleuths worked alongside Haryana Police to lay a cordon near a flyover in the area based on intelligence tracking the suspects' movements.
When officers spotted the suspects travelling in a Mahindra Thar, they signalled the driver to stop. Instead of complying, the vehicle accelerated sharply and turned onto the UER service road in an attempt to breach the police blockade.
The getaway came to an end when the speeding SUV crashed broadside into a utility pick-up. Following the collision, police shot at both hitmen in self-defence, injuring them before taking them into custody.
