Labourer Killed, Three Injured in Karol Bagh Building Collapse on Pyare Lal Road

A labourer died and three others suffered injuries after an old multistorey building collapsed during demolition work on Pyare Lal Road in Regarpura, Karol Bagh, on Friday morning.
The incident took place at around 11.15 am while labourers were engaged in razing the structure. The building was being demolished by a private contractor hired by the property owners. A preliminary inquiry revealed that requisite permission for the demolition had not been obtained from the concerned agency.
According to police, labourers were actively working on the site when the structure gave way, trapping several workers under the heavy debris. Following an alert regarding the incident, teams from the local police personnel and the Delhi Fire Services rushed to the spot on Pyare Lal Road to initiate a rescue operation.
Rescue workers pulled the trapped men from the rubble and transported them to medical facilities. Among the victims, a labourer identified as Sheikh Shamshad suffered severe injuries and later died. Police said his body was shifted to a hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Another worker, Mohammad Ayub, suffered a head injury and a fracture to his right hand. He was rescued from the debris and shifted to a hospital, where police stated that his condition remains critical.
A third labourer, identified by authorities as Sheikh Saidul, sustained injuries to his limbs and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
