Jewellery worth over Rs 2 crore was stolen from a car belonging to a Jaipur-based businessman after suspects smashed its rear window near Bikaner Chowk in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh, police said.

The incident occurred on August 19, prompting a PCR call to the Karol Bagh police station reporting the theft of three bags containing high-value items from the vehicle.

According to the police, the victim, a jeweller from Jaipur, had travelled to Delhi for business purposes. The complainant was carrying a substantial consignment of jewellery and diamonds inside his car when the theft took place.

Investigators stated that the thieves targeted the vehicle, broke open its rear window glass, and fled the scene with the three bags containing the valuables.

Following the alert, local police teams along with specialized units arrived at the scene near Bikaner Chowk to commence the probe. Officers gathered evidence from the spot and began scanning surveillance infrastructure throughout the surrounding neighbourhood.

Police teams carried out an extensive examination of CCTV camera footage covering the area to reconstruct the possible movements and actions of the suspects prior to and immediately after the crime.

During a sustained analysis of visual footage collected from several cameras in the vicinity, police identified two suspects who were wearing helmets and travelling on a motorcycle.

Investigators are currently examining the movements of the detained individuals to ascertain their exact involvement and determine any direct links to the theft.

In addition, police teams are continuing to analyze CCTV footage along the suspected escape route taken by the culprits. The ongoing review aims to map out the exact route used following the theft and identify any other individuals or accomplices who may have been involved in executing the crime.
