71-Year-Old Woman Killed, Husband Injured by SUV in Greater Kailash-I

A 71-year-old woman died and her 65-year-old husband sustained injuries after an SUV allegedly hit multiple vehicles before knocking down the couple near Kailash Colony Metro Station in south Delhi's Greater Kailash-I.

The accident was reported on Sunday when the Greater Kailash-I police station received a Police Control Room call. Police personnel were dispatched to the location, and the injured couple was shifted to Moolchand Hospital for medical attention.

The woman, identified by police as Shashi, was declared brought dead upon arrival at the hospital. Her husband, identified as Kulbhushan, received medical treatment for his injuries and was later declared fit by doctors to provide a statement to investigators.

According to police, the SUV collided with several vehicles before striking the couple near the metro station.

A case has been registered at the Greater Kailash-I police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 281 (rash driving), Section 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and Section 106 (causing death by negligence).

Police confirmed on Monday that the accused driver of the SUV has been arrested in connection with the crash.
