Woman Detained After Hurling Ink at CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke at Jantar Mantar

A tense situation unfolded at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2026, after an unidentified woman hurled an ink-like liquid at Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke. The incident occurred while Mr. Dipke was actively addressing a gathering at the protest site, leading to immediate chaos and the subsequent detention of the woman by the Delhi Police.
The ink-throwing incident briefly disrupted the ongoing programme at the venue. As the liquid was thrown, supporters of the CJP founder rushed towards the stage in a bid to assist him, which triggered a loud commotion among the gathered crowd.
According to officials, the identity of the woman and the specific motive behind her actions were not immediately known. However, Delhi Police sources confirmed that she was quickly detained at the spot. The police have stated that further investigation into the matter is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
This incident of drama occurred just hours after Jantar Mantar had already witnessed a major police operation early Saturday morning. During that earlier operation, the Delhi Police forcibly removed activist Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site and transported him to Safdarjung Hospital due to his rapidly deteriorating health.
Mr. Wangchuk had been observing an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar since June 28, 2026, marking 21 days of fasting. His protest was held in support of the CJP-led demonstration against alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
The early morning police action to relocate Mr. Wangchuk also witnessed a brief commotion of its own. Some protesters present at the site attempted to obstruct the police officers as they moved in to take the activist to the hospital.
Medical professionals who had been monitoring Mr. Wangchuk's condition reported that he had lost nearly 9.5 kilograms during his 21-day fast. Doctors noted that his blood pressure and blood sugar levels remained under close observation due to the severe physical toll of the strike.
Following the hospitalisation of Mr. Wangchuk, Mr. Dipke took to social media to express his anger. The CJP founder alleged that several protesters were detained and subjected to police action during the early morning police operation at the protest site.
