Van Driver, Two Family Members Arrested for Murder of Passenger Picked Up at IFFCO Chowk

A 59-year-old van driver and two of his family members have been arrested for allegedly killing a passenger who boarded the vehicle at IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram, following a dispute over a fare of approximately Rs 1,000, police said on Saturday.

The accused driver, identified as Rajinder Kumar alias Annu, told police during questioning that he had picked up the victim from IFFCO Chowk on August 17. During the journey towards West Delhi, an argument broke out after the passenger reportedly refused to pay the fare.

According to police, the quarrel escalated inside the vehicle, and Rajinder allegedly assaulted the passenger using bricks and an earthen-pot-like object, inflicting fatal injuries. He then dumped the victim's body along a roadside in Delhi's Naraina area.

Following the killing, Rajinder allegedly contacted his wife, 50-year-old Kamini Makhija, and his 28-year-old son, Laksh Makhija, to assist him in covering up the crime. A police officer stated that the wife and son helped conceal the deceased person's clothes and assisted with handling the vehicle used during the incident.

The crime came to light after the Naraina police station received a PCR call reporting an unidentified body discovered in the Naraina Vihar area.

Following an investigation, police arrested Rajinder, Kamini, and Laksh on Friday night.
