Two Women Journalists Detained And Beaten By Delhi Police In South Delhi

Two independent women journalists alleged on Thursday, September 3, 2026, that they were detained and assaulted by Delhi Police personnel in south Delhi while carrying out news coverage.
According to the journalists, police personnel detained both of them prior to the physical assault. The reporters stated that they were on their way to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to undergo a medical examination and obtain their Medico-Legal Case (MLC) reports following the incident.
There was no immediate reaction or official statement from the Delhi Police regarding the allegations.
Following the incident, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Delhi government over the conduct of the police.
Raising the issue on social media platform X, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the journalists were targeted over their questioning of the Chief Minister. Bharadwaj stated, "Two women reporters have been very brutally beaten by Delhi Police for asking questions from CM Rekha Gupta. Shame on woman CM Rekha Gupta."
