Two Killed in Raghubir Nagar Fire After E-Rickshaw Battery Explodes

Two people, including a 17-year-old teenager, died after a fire broke out in a residential building in West Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar early Monday morning following an e-rickshaw battery explosion.
The deceased were identified by officials as Sufaid, 17, and his brother-in-law Mohammad Samid, 38. Sufaid was the son of Mohammad Nasib, the owner of the residential building. Both individuals sustained injuries in the blaze and were taken to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Raghubir Nagar, where medical personnel declared them dead.
The Delhi Fire Services received an emergency call reporting the blaze at the building situated on Masjid Gurudwara Road in Raghubir Nagar at approximately 4:42 am. Following the alert, the department dispatched three fire tenders to the scene.
According to fire officials, the building consists of a ground floor and four upper floors. The fire gutted domestic articles on the first floor. A preliminary probe suggested that the incident was triggered when an e-rickshaw battery exploded.
A police officer confirmed that the e-rickshaw was on charge on the ground floor of the premises. The vehicle's battery is suspected to have exploded during charging, causing the fire to spread to the ground and upper floors.
Officials noted that the two victims were evacuated and transported to the hospital before the arrival of the fire department teams. Firefighters brought the blaze under control by around 5:25 am, at which point a station officer issued a formal "stop" message.
