Delhi CM Launches Four Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Circuits at Akshardham Conclave

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched four new spiritual and heritage tourism circuits during the 'Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conclave 2026' held at the Akshardham Temple on August 11. The initiative aims to showcase the city's spiritual, cultural, and historical heritage while transforming Delhi from a transit hub into a primary destination city.

The conclave was organised under the theme 'Delhi: The Capital of Spirituality, Heritage, and Experiences' to curate integrated travel experiences for visitors by connecting various religious and historical landmarks across the national capital.

Developed by Delhi Tourism, the four circuits link key sites across different parts of the city. Among the included locations are Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Agrasen ki Baoli, the Lotus Temple, and the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple.

Other routes incorporate landmarks such as the Ancient Hanuman Temple, Digambar Jain Lal Mandir, the Dr. Ambedkar Memorial, Purana Qila, and the Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah. Additional locations featured across the circuits include Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, the Buddhist Temple, the Church of Redemption, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Chhatarpur Temple, and Linga Bhairavi Sannidhanam.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stated that the objective of these circuits is not merely to connect individual tourist spots, but to provide a comprehensive tourism experience spanning spirituality, history, architecture, cuisine, folk traditions, and diverse faiths.

Gupta explained that the government aims to encourage tourists to extend their visits and stay overnight rather than visiting for only a few hours or a single day. She noted that longer stays would generate new economic activities and employment opportunities for local guides, hotels, restaurants, tour operators, artists, artisans, and small entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister added that Delhi serves as a reflection of India's cultural and spiritual essence, preserving history from the era of Indraprastha through various historical periods while bringing together diverse traditions and festivals from across the country.
