Two Dead, Four Injured in CNG Cylinder Blast Near Tikri Kalan Metro Station
Two people were killed and four others sustained serious injuries on Wednesday after a CNG cylinder in a truck exploded at a fuel station near the Tikri Kalan Metro Station in Delhi.
The explosion took place while the truck's CNG cylinder was being filled. The Delhi Fire Service reported that it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 3:37 pm, prompting the immediate dispatch of six fire tenders to the fuel pump.
According to the DCP Outer Delhi, one of the victims who died was identified as 25-year-old Manish, a resident of Baba Haridas Colony in West Delhi. Manish was filling gas into the CNG cylinder of the truck when the accident occurred and died on the spot. Another individual who was injured in the blast was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A fire service officer stated that people standing nearby during the explosion sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The DCP Outer Delhi confirmed that the four surviving injured persons are in serious condition, and further details regarding the hospitalised victims are awaited.
The explosion caused panic across the surrounding area. Large teams of police and fire personnel were deployed to the site to carry out necessary precautionary measures and secure the premises.
A fire service official confirmed that the situation was subsequently brought under control. The exact cause of the cylinder explosion has not yet been determined, and an investigation into the incident remains underway.
