Over 47 Lakh Names Struck Off Delhi Draft Electoral Roll After Verification
NEW DELHI — Nearly one in three registered voters in Delhi have been struck off the draft Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll published by the Election Commission on Monday morning.
According to data released by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer, the newly published draft rolls contain the names of 97,53,577 voters. In contrast, the names of 47,56,722 individuals out of the capital's total pool of 1.45 crore registered voters are missing from the updated lists.
The exclusions follow a month-and-a-half-long voter verification exercise conducted across all 70 assembly constituencies in the capital. Registered electors whose names do not appear on the draft roll were excluded because they failed to submit their voter details during the special revision drive.
Election officials stated that during the verification exercise, many registered voters could not be found residing at their recorded addresses. Authorities also pointed out that numerous other residents had shifted their homes within Delhi or had moved out of the city entirely.
Official figures confirm that enumeration forms for 67.2 percent of Delhi’s electorate were submitted and digitised during the drive. The remaining 32.8 percent of the voter base was categorised under ASDDO, an administrative classification covering voters who are Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate, and Others.
The final numbers align with earlier findings from the door-to-door verification effort, during which around 20 percent of registered electors were not found at their listed residential addresses. Projections made during the course of the drive had estimated that nearly one in three voters in the city were likely to be removed from the draft roll due to missing documentation or unconfirmed residency across the capital's constituencies.
