NDMC Extends Timings for 11 Public Toilets in Connaught Place Area Till Midnight

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced that operating hours for 11 public toilets in its jurisdiction, predominantly located in and around Connaught Place, will be extended from 10 pm until midnight starting Friday.

The civic body identified these 11 facilities to cater to visitors who frequent the commercial and leisure hub during late hours. Out of the 11 identified facilities, nine are situated in Connaught Place itself.

NDMC chairman Manoj Dwivedi shared the announcement on the social media platform X, stating that the timings were being changed to accommodate the night-time crowd. "People like to stay in Connaught Place late at night. So from Friday onwards, the timings for 11 public toilets are being extended up to midnight," Dwivedi said.

According to the municipal council, the public toilet facilities included in the initiative are located across several busy spots. In Connaught Place's middle circle, units in A, E, F, and K blocks are included. Two public conveniences in Central Park, situated opposite D and F blocks, will also remain open until midnight, along with a facility near the Super Bazaar Parking in F Block.

Additional public toilets covered under the new schedule are situated at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, ECE House on Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Panchkuia, and Chelmsford Road.

Officials noted that more public toilets are likely to be brought under the extended-hours system in the future, depending on footfall in respective areas. The operational change takes effect at a time when the civic council has been facing challenges in maintaining its existing sites.
