Man Wanted for Wife's Murder Arrested in KN Katju Marg

The special task force of the Rohini district police arrested a 40-year-old man from the KN Katju Marg area on August 14 who had been absconding for more than two months after allegedly killing his wife in outer Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy area.
Police said the accused was carrying an illegal country-made pistol and one cartridge at the time of his apprehension. The Delhi Police confirmed the development on Sunday.
According to the police, the body of the victim, a woman in her 30s who lived in the Bhalswa Dairy slum cluster, was found in an open and isolated area under the jurisdiction of the Bhalswa Dairy police station on June 6. Her throat had been slit and her face was crushed with a stone. Her husband went missing the day the body was discovered.
A murder case was registered following the discovery, and the husband emerged as the prime suspect after investigators learned that the couple frequently quarrelled over his suspicion that she was having an extramarital affair. With the suspect evading arrest for over two months, proceedings to declare him a proclaimed offender were already underway.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern Range) Vijay Singh said interrogation revealed the suspect allegedly murdered his wife because he suspected her of having an affair with another person, adding that these claims are being verified. A separate case has also been registered against him under the Arms Act for possessing an illegal firearm.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal said the STF launched a raid in the KN Katju Marg area after receiving and confirming tip-offs regarding the suspect's presence.
The accused disclosed that after committing the murder, he fled Delhi and frequently changed hideouts across neighbouring states. To evade law enforcement agencies, he took up various petty jobs, including working as a parking attendant.
