Delhi Police Bust Hi-Tech Mukundpur Betting Syndicate, Arrest 31

The Anti-Narcotics Squad of Delhi Police's Outer North District has busted a hi-tech betting and gambling syndicate operating from Mukundpur, arresting 31 people, including the alleged mastermind, premises owner, and a software developer.

The operation commenced on August 9 when police raided a premises in Mukundpur following information regarding an active gambling den. Officers found 22 people allegedly involved in gambling at the spot. During the initial raid, police recovered Rs 6.29 lakh in cash, 41 packs of playing cards, Jantri books, registers, diaries, a whiteboard, and 26 mobile phones. A case was registered at Bhalswa Dairy police station under the Delhi Public Gambling Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the operation was part of an organised, software-driven betting network rather than an isolated gambling den. According to police, the syndicate had divided responsibilities among key members, including software development, fund handling, data entry, mediation, and relaying information and money collection through WhatsApp.

On August 12, police arrested Ranjeet, identified as the alleged mastermind and main operator, along with Ramesh Kumar, the owner of the Mukundpur premises. On August 18, investigators arrested four additional key operatives: data entry operator Pramod Kumar, financial handler Vipin Kumar Jain, mediator and software deployer Khemchand alias Monu, and Rahul Dilwaliya, who allegedly built the customised 'Jantri Satta' software used to process betting entries. Five laptops and five smartphones were seized during these arrests.

Investigators noted that the probe revealed links with betting operations associated with Gali Disawar, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Delhi Bazar. On August 20, police apprehended three more suspects: data operator Amit, collection and WhatsApp relay agent Rahul Kumar, and Nanak Sahu, described as an upper-level link in the network. A raid at Sahu's hideout yielded Rs 2.62 lakh in cash, a laptop, three smartphones, and a Suzuki Burgman scooty. Police stated Sahu had previously been involved in two gambling cases at Adarsh Nagar and Burari police stations.

In total, police have seized Rs 8.92 lakh in cash, seven laptops, 38 smartphones—including 12 loaded with the custom software—as well as stored betting records, cards, and registers. Officials stated that investigation is ongoing to map the financial trail and identify wider connections across Delhi and surrounding areas.
