Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Letters to Be Issued From Aug 26, Aid Starts Sept 1

NEW DELHI — Eligible women enrolled under the Delhi government's Delhi Lakshmi Yojana will begin receiving benefit letters from August 26, with monthly financial assistance scheduled to be credited starting September 1, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday.

According to information shared by the Chief Minister’s office, a special event will be organised at Talkatora Stadium on August 26 to mark the beginning of the distribution of pension letters.

The Delhi government has finalised the manner of disbursing the ₹2,500 monthly assistance. Under the scheme, beneficiaries can opt to receive ₹1,000 via a central bank digital currency and ₹1,500 in a fixed or recurring deposit, or choose to direct the entire ₹2,500 into a deposit, according to their choice.

Chief Minister Gupta reviewed the implementation of the scheme at the Delhi Secretariat. The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma, along with chairpersons and officials from district-level approval, monitoring, and grievance redressal committees.

Addressing the officials, Gupta highlighted that the role of district-level committees is critical for the scheme's execution. She stated that every application must be thoroughly scrutinised and monitored to ensure eligible women receive their financial benefits without unnecessary delay.

Gupta also directed local public representatives serving on district committees to inspect applications where submitted information appears doubtful. She noted that examining questionable information at the scrutiny stage would prevent administrative issues later.

Additionally, the government confirmed that applicants will be given an opportunity to correct or complete missing information. A dedicated correction facility is scheduled to be launched on the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal.

Data shared during the review meeting revealed that 800,000 beneficiaries registered on the portal within the first 18 days of its launch. Of those registered, 500,000 individuals submitted completed applications. Gupta instructed committee officials to sustain inter-departmental coordination and continue tracking the verification and approval stages.
