Delhi High Court to Permit Sonam Wangchuk Transfer to Medanta Hospital

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, indicated that it will permit activist Sonam Wangchuk to transfer from Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi to Medanta Hospital.

The court's proposal was accepted by the Central Government, which gave its consent to the transfer. During the proceedings, the Centre requested that Wangchuk strictly follow medical advice once he is admitted to Medanta Hospital.

According to the court's indication on Tuesday, a formal order for Wangchuk's discharge from Safdarjung Hospital is expected to be issued later in the day. This formal order will officially facilitate his relocation and subsequent admission to Medanta Hospital.

The transition will enable the activist to be discharged from the government-run Safdarjung Hospital and moved to the private facility, provided he adheres to the medical guidance of the doctors treating him.
