Delhi Government Initiates Sealing of Maujpur Playschool After Boy Assaulted

The Delhi government has initiated proceedings to seal a playschool in Maujpur following the alleged assault of a three-year-old boy on the premises, the Chief Minister’s Office announced on Monday.

The enforcement action was initiated on the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Following the directive, the local District Magistrate began the administrative proceedings to seal the school property while the police investigation into the alleged abuse continues.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that the Delhi government had taken serious cognisance of the deeply disturbing incident reported from the play school in Maujpur. The administration added that it would ensure responsibility is fixed and that those found guilty face the strictest action permissible under the law.

Police authorities have registered a formal criminal case against four individuals associated with the institution: the school director, the principal, a teacher, and a caretaker. The case invokes sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act alongside relevant provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the caretaker has been placed under arrest in connection with the case. The police also sent the three-year-old child for a medical examination at GTB Hospital as part of the ongoing inquiry.

According to the victim's family, the young boy was beaten at the school and subjected to inappropriate conduct. The family stated that they initially grew suspicious of abuse after observing notable changes in the child's daily behaviour, which included difficulty sleeping and an acute fear of using the toilet.
