CJP's Saurav Das Questions Delhi Govt Over Delay in Quashing FIRs Against Students

NEW DELHI — Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das on Tuesday questioned the Delhi government over its reluctance to submit before the court a list of First Information Reports (FIRs) directed to be quashed, stressing that withdrawing cases against protesting students remains a critical issue.
Das demanded that the government adhere to court directions and provide details of the cases instead of stalling proceedings.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Das questioned why the administration was displaying hesitancy before the court when asked to submit the specific list of FIRs slated for quashing.
"When the court is asking (from government) for the list of FIRs to be quashed, then why are you not submitting it to the court? But you (government) are showing hesitancy on this in the court. Don't play delay tactics with us. We will not accept this," Das said.
Das noted that while authorities have identified roughly 2,800 hardened criminals against whom action constitutes a separate matter, the core matter regarding the students is the formal quashing of cases filed against them.
The remarks follow the CJP's sustained demand that FIRs registered against students and other participants during the agitation be formally withdrawn, rather than merely marked or treated as closed.
The party maintained that students who took part in the protests should not be subjected to further legal action solely on the grounds of their involvement in the demonstration.
