Chandni Chowk Logs 60.9% Voter Verification in Delhi SIR Drive

Chandni Chowk recorded a 60.9% voter verification rate during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration drive, reflecting a trend of moderate to high participation across parts of Old Delhi.
The enumeration period ran from June 30 to August 18, with August 17 serving as the final day for submitting enumeration forms. Across Old Delhi, neighboring constituencies reported varied outcomes, with Ballimaran recording a 67.3% verification rate and Matia Mahal achieving 75.5%.
Across Delhi's 70 assembly constituencies, 97.5 lakh of the city's 1.45 crore registered voters submitted their details by the August 17 deadline. Nearly 33% of the total electorate failed to submit enumeration forms, which officials primarily attributed to residents shifting away from their registered addresses. Around 47.6 lakh unverified voters are likely to be struck off the draft electoral roll when it is published on August 24.
Electoral officials noted that minority-dominated assembly constituencies generally saw a higher percentage of voter verification. Seelampur recorded the highest verification among these areas at 76.6%, followed by Matia Mahal at 75.5%, Babarpur at 72.9%, and Mustafabad at 71.9%. Officials said these areas may witness fewer voter deletions as local residents engaged in awareness efforts, with volunteers explaining the submission process through videos and physical meetings.
However, verification numbers varied widely across the capital, ranging from a low of 52.1% in Tughlakabad to a city-wide high of 83.4% in Rohini. Other outer Delhi areas also saw high completion rates, including Shakur Basti at 81%, Mangolpuri at 78%, and Uttam Nagar at 77.7%, while Narela, Bawana, and Madipur all crossed 76%.
By contrast, several upscale and middle-income areas recorded lower completion rates. R K Puram logged 44.5% verification and Kasturba Nagar saw 44%. Okhla recorded 54.6%, which officials noted could be linked to high migration. In South and Central Delhi, Kalkaji stood at 57.2%, Badarpur at 57.3%, New Delhi at 58.2%, Jangpura at 58.4%, Mehrauli at 58.9%, Sangam Vihar and Patel Nagar at 59.2%, and Karol Bagh at 59.5%.
Electors who did not submit their enumeration forms during the drive will have a window to submit claims and objections between August 24 and September 23.
