The body of a 48-year-old furniture businessman was found inside an underground water tank on Wednesday morning at Siddharth Kunj Apartments in Dwarka Sector 7. The Delhi Police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to police officers aware of the matter, the deceased was a resident of the Siddharth Kunj Apartments complex, where he lived with his family. The underground water tank where his body was discovered is located behind a temple within the residential society premises.
A police team dispatched to the scene on Wednesday morning retrieved the body and subsequently sent it for a post-mortem examination. Investigators stated that the medical examination is necessary to officially ascertain the exact cause of death.
At this stage, Delhi Police officers stated that no final conclusion has been reached regarding how the businessman died. Investigators are currently probing multiple angles, exploring whether the incident was a case of suicide, an accidental drowning, or a murder.
While the initial inquiry by the police has raised the possibility of suicide by drowning, authorities are not ruling out other scenarios. Investigators are actively looking into whether the death was accidental or if any foul play was involved in the incident. Senior police officers confirmed that no suicide note has been found at the scene or among the businessman's belongings so far.
As part of the active investigation, police officers are questioning the victim’s wife and other residents of the housing society. Through these inquiries, police hope to reconstruct the businessman's movements before the incident occurred and determine the exact circumstances that led to his death.
Additionally, officers are retrieving and examining Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage from the apartment complex and nearby areas. The footage is being analyzed to establish a clear timeline of the events leading up to the discovery of the body.
