47.6 Lakh Names Excluded from Delhi Draft Electoral Roll Ahead of Aug 24 Release

Around one in three registered voters in Delhi will not be included in the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on August 24. The names of 47.6 lakh registered voters, representing approximately 33% of the city's 1.45 crore electorate, were omitted following the conclusion of a door-to-door verification drive on Monday.
The exercise was conducted under the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) process. A team of 13,000 booth-level officers carried out the verification drive over a period of one and a half months across the capital.
According to election officials, individuals who failed to submit their forms for verification will be dropped from the draft roll. Officials noted that nearly 75% of the more than 47 lakh omitted voters appeared to have shifted residence, either within Delhi or outside the city.
By Monday evening, forms belonging to nearly 97.5 lakh voters had been verified and digitised, bringing the overall enumeration verification rate to 67.2%. As of 6 pm on Monday, only 2,542 enumeration forms remained to be verified and digitised, indicating that any further change in the number of excluded voters would be marginal.
Voters residing in Delhi whose names are missing from the draft roll will have a one-month window following the August 24 publication to submit fresh applications and undergo verification to get re-enrolled.
In January 2025, prior to the Delhi assembly elections, the city had recorded 1.55 crore registered voters.
