30-Year-Old Man Dies After Jumping into Drain in Delhi's Kanti Nagar

A 30-year-old man died allegedly by suicide after jumping into a drain in Delhi's Kanti Nagar area following a marital dispute, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Naseem, a resident of Sartaj Mohalla in Kanti Nagar. He worked at a jeans-finishing unit in Gandhi Nagar and lived with his parents, wife, and three children.

According to police, a PCR call was received on Monday reporting that a man had jumped into the drain. Following a search operation, Naseem was pulled out of the water and rushed to Dr Hedgewar Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

A preliminary inquiry revealed that Naseem and his 26-year-old wife, Amreen, had been experiencing marital differences, leading her to live separately.

Police stated that Naseem's mother had followed him as he walked towards the drain but was unable to reach him before he jumped into the water.

The body was sent for a postmortem examination and subsequently handed over to the family. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
