Three minors arrested for stabbing 60-year-old factory worker to death in Begampur

A 60-year-old factory worker was stabbed to death during a robbery attempt on Pansali Road in Begampur on Tuesday night. The victim, identified as Rajesh, was cycling home when three minor boys allegedly confronted him, stabbed him in the waist, and robbed him of ₹4,080.

Rajesh, a resident of Shahabad Dairy, worked as a labourer in a nickel factory in Pratap Vihar. Following the incident, the Delhi Police arrested three minor suspects on Wednesday and recovered the weapon used in the crime.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal, the Begampur police station was alerted on Tuesday night about an unconscious, bleeding man lying in an isolated area on Pansali Road. A police team dispatched to the scene found that the victim had already been shifted to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The police subsequently registered a murder case and launched an investigation. During the initial inquiry, officers located a witness who had spotted Rajesh bleeding on the road. Rajesh had reportedly told the witness before passing away that three boys had surrounded and stabbed him.

Because there were no CCTV cameras installed directly at the crime scene, investigators scanned footage from cameras on the routes leading to the area. Using technical investigation and field intelligence, the police identified and apprehended the three minor suspects on Wednesday.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to the crime. They told investigators they were in the area to commit a robbery for money. When they spotted Rajesh on his bicycle, they waylaid him. One of the minors threatened Rajesh with a knife while the other two held him back.

When Rajesh resisted, one of the boys stabbed him in the waist. The trio then stole ₹4,080 from his pocket and fled, leaving him bleeding on the road. The suspects divided the stolen cash among themselves and spent it on food.

The police have seized the knife used in the stabbing, which the suspects had purchased online.
