Software Tester Arrested After Speeding Thar Kills Noida-Bound Biker

A 34-year-old motorcyclist heading to Noida for work was killed in a hit-and-run collision by a speeding Mahindra Thar on the Rajokri flyover in Southwest Delhi. Following the incident, the Delhi Police arrested a 30-year-old software engineer and detained his colleague in connection with the fatal crash.
The victim, identified as Sarthak Mattoo, was a resident of Gurugram who worked for an event management company. According to the police, Mattoo was riding his motorcycle to Noida when the speeding Mahindra Thar overtook him, collided with his two-wheeler, and crushed him under its wheels. The occupants of the Thar fled the scene immediately after the accident.
A passerby witnessed the collision, used the victim's phone to contact his office, and alerted the Police Control Room (PCR). A PCR vehicle transported Mattoo to the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre in Vasant Kunj, where medical personnel declared him dead on arrival.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel stated that investigators analyzed multiple CCTV camera feeds to map the route of the fleeing vehicle. The Mahindra Thar was traced to a Bengaluru-based private company, which had leased the SUV to 29-year-old Sagar Saha.
Police apprehended Saha in Gurugram on Thursday. During questioning, Saha, who was in the front passenger seat during the crash, disclosed that his colleague, 30-year-old Apurv Singh, was driving the vehicle. Singh, a software tester residing in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested on Saturday.
The victim's father, Surender Mattoo, stated that his son was wearing a helmet and had left home around 6:30 a.m. for work. He expressed grief that the occupants of the car left his son on the road instead of taking him to a hospital. He also raised concerns over the delay in conducting alcohol tests on the accused, noting that his son would have celebrated his 34th birthday on Saturday.
The Delhi Police clarified that blood samples were collected immediately after the suspects were apprehended, and the medical reports are currently awaited. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is ongoing.
