Press Club of India Halts 'Modi Chalisa' Event in Central Delhi Over Rule Violation

A row erupted at the Press Club of India premises in Central Delhi on Thursday after a group of people gathered to perform an aarti in front of a statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and recited the 'Modi Chalisa'.

Videos and photographs of the gathering circulated widely across social media platforms, showing participants chanting 'Jai-Jai Modi' inside the facility. The circulation of the visuals prompted the Press Club of India to issue an official clarification regarding the nature of the gathering.

The Press Club of India clarified that it had not organised the programme. According to the club management, the hall had originally been booked by an outside organisation under the agreement of holding a standard press conference.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Press Club of India explained that the booking organisation had allegedly violated the terms and conditions under which the premises had been rented.

"The Press Club of India has noticed that a photo/video of an event held at its premises earlier today, is circulating on social media. It is hereby clarified that the Club had not organised the event," the statement said.

The club further stated: "The hall was hired for the purpose of holding a press conference by an organization but when terms for renting out the place were violated by it, the Club authorities immediately intervened and it was stopped."

Club authorities intervened as soon as the terms were breached, putting an immediate halt to the recitations and proceedings inside the rented hall.
