Nine Coaching Centres Sealed in Noida and Greater Noida Fire Safety Crackdown

Authorities in Gautam Buddha Nagar have sealed nine coaching centres and issued notices to 12 others across Noida Sectors 16, 18, 22, 58, 62, and Greater Noida during a major safety crackdown. The inspections, which began on Tuesday, were launched after a tragic fire at a coaching centre in Lucknow's Aliganj area killed 15 people on Monday.
A joint team comprising the City Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, the District Inspector of Schools, and the Chief Fire Officer has been carrying out the inspections. As of Wednesday, the team had inspected a total of 66 institutions across Gautam Buddha Nagar to check for compliance with fire safety and other regulatory norms.
In Noida Sectors 16 and 18, officials inspected 12 coaching institutes, leading to the sealing of two facilities. In Sector 22, four institutes were inspected, with two served notices and directed to halt their operations. Additionally, the joint team inspected six institutes in Noida Sectors 58 and 62.
In Greater Noida, the District Inspector of Schools confirmed that five coaching centres were sealed with immediate effect on Wednesday. These actions were taken due to the non-availability of required documents and non-compliance with prescribed safety standards. The drive also extended to Jewar, where four hotels and guest houses were inspected, resulting in one being sealed and three others receiving notices.
The enforcement drive in Gautam Buddha Nagar is part of a wider crackdown across the Delhi-NCR region. In neighbouring Ghaziabad, police inspected 56 establishments, finding 12 flouting norms and sealing two coaching institutions in Modinagar. The Ghaziabad District Magistrate also reviewed fire safety arrangements in residential societies and high-rise buildings, directing Resident Welfare Associations to secure storage of combustible materials.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, Education Minister Ashish Sood ordered a citywide inspection of major student hubs like Mukherjee Nagar, Rajender Nagar, and Katwaria Sarai. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has been directed to share a list of 923 surveyed coaching centres and submit daily action-taken reports as the region-wide crackdown continues.
