NCB Secures Extradition of Drug Kingpin Virender Singh Basoya from UAE

The Narcotics Control Bureau has secured the return of fugitive drug kingpin Virender Singh Basoya from the United Arab Emirates to New Delhi. Basoya is accused of orchestrating a massive multi-crore international cocaine trafficking syndicate.

Basoya was brought back to India to face trial following sustained inter-agency coordination and international legal action. According to authorities, he emerged as a key mastermind following one of the largest drug seizures in recent history, which involved cocaine shipments valued in excess of Rs 5,000 crore.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the extradition. He stated that the operation reflects the Union government's zero-tolerance approach toward narcotics and cross-border drug trafficking networks.

In a statement shared on X, Shah noted that the government has been relentlessly tracking down drug traffickers hiding abroad and dismantling their networks. He highlighted that agencies traced the criminal using a top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top approach to ensure accountability under Indian law.

The operation marks a significant development in ongoing efforts by Indian law enforcement agencies to dismantle overseas logistical networks linked to domestic drug distribution.
