Gangster Vainkat Garg extradited from Georgia for murder of BSP leader Harbilash Hajjumajra

A 29-year-old gangster, Vainkat Garg, who is accused of orchestrating the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Harbilash Hajjumajra, has been extradited from Georgia to Delhi. A team from the Haryana Police traveled to Tbilisi and brought Garg back to Delhi on Thursday, marking a major breakthrough in the investigation.

The extradition was executed through a year-long coordinated effort involving the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Haryana Police. Garg, who had fled India over a year ago, is allegedly involved in at least 34 criminal cases, including 11 orchestrated from foreign soil.

According to police records, Garg fled India on December 10, 2024, departing from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi to the United Arab Emirates. He subsequently traveled to Georgia on January 26, 2025. While in Georgia, Garg established contact with Kapil Sangwan, alias Nandu, a notorious UK-based gangster, to consolidate their alliance.

From Georgia, Garg allegedly expanded his criminal network to 53 members operating across the Delhi-NCR region, actively recruiting and directing shooters. His gang reportedly became highly active in the Capital, commanding extortion fees through fear following the murder of the BSP leader.

The murder of Harbilash Hajjumajra took place on January 24, 2025, when he was shot dead inside his car in Ambala. Within three days of the incident, the Haryana Police arrested five shooters: Sagar, Rajan, Mangu, Gagan, and Shivam. The statements of these shooters, along with social media posts, confirmed Garg's role as the mastermind behind the assassination.

Garg's criminal record dates back to 2016. He had previously been arrested and faced 23 cases in Chandigarh and Haryana before being released on bail in October 2024, shortly before fleeing the country.

In addition to the BSP leader's murder, the Delhi Police linked Garg to the killing of a businessman in the Paschim Vihar area of Delhi about six months ago. The businessman was suspected of being close to Manjeet Mahal, a rival of Kapil Sangwan. Following this, the Delhi Police requested the revocation of Garg's passport.

Furthermore, two of Garg's shooters, Harshdeep and Naveen Dhiman, were arrested by the Delhi Police in August 2025 in connection with an extortion-related firing in the Dwarka area of Delhi.
