DMRC Secures ISO 55001:2024 Certification for Mumbai Metro Line-3

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) in New Delhi has achieved the ISO 55001:2024 certification for its asset management system for Mumbai Metro Line-3. With this recognition, DMRC has become the first metro organisation in India to receive certification under this latest international standard for asset management.

The ISO 55001:2024 standard provides a globally recognised framework for managing physical and infrastructure assets across their entire lifecycle. Implementing this standard enables organisations to make more informed decisions by balancing asset performance, operational risk, and lifecycle costs, leading to enhanced reliability, resource efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

According to DMRC, the certification represents a key shift in how metro infrastructure is maintained and managed.

“The achievement marks a milestone in DMRC’s journey from conventional maintenance practices towards strategic, risk-based and lifecycle-oriented asset management. It reflects a shift from simply maintaining assets to managing their performance, risk, cost and long-term value in alignment with organisational objectives,” said Anuj Dayal, principal executive director of corporate communications at DMRC.

Dayal added that the corporation achieved the certification in record time by carrying out a comprehensive strengthening of its asset management framework. This process included enhancing the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and aligning asset management objectives directly with broader organisational priorities.

In addition, DMRC strengthened its risk assessment procedures and lifecycle controls across operations. The organisation also undertook extensive training and capacity-building programmes for its personnel to support the implementation of the new asset management standards.
