Delhi Police arrest eight suspects, busting Pakistan-backed terror module

The Delhi Police announced on Saturday, May 31, 2026, that they have busted a Pakistan ISI-underworld terror module and arrested eight suspects in a coordinated multi-state operation. The suspects were allegedly planning terror attacks on vital installations, security establishments, and police personnel in Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, and cities in Punjab.
According to police, the arrested operatives were in touch with handlers in Pakistan, Dubai, and Bangladesh. The conspiracy was allegedly orchestrated by the Pakistan ISI, underworld operatives, and the network of gangster Shahzad Bhatti, with some links to fugitive underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
The arrests began on May 14 with the apprehension of 23-year-old Vijay ‘Shooter’ in Pune. His interrogation led to the arrest of 23-year-old Nitish Paswan in Sahibganj on May 17. Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Anil Shukla stated that Vijay was tasked with recruiting youth and executing terror activities across Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Information from the initial arrests revealed that the module had already conducted reconnaissance of multiple bridges in Mumbai and the Dadar station. This led to the arrest of Tauqeer Sheikh and Arbaz Khan in Mumbai. Police stated they were tasked with carrying out grenade attacks and shootings at security installations in Delhi and Mumbai.
On Saturday around 1 a.m., police intercepted three additional suspects—Harvinder Singh, Gagandeep Singh, and Manjeet Singh—on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road in Delhi. The three Punjab residents were traveling toward Chattarpur when police arrested them and recovered a cache of weapons, including grenades and automatic pistols.
Additionally, police arrested Ang Kami Lama, a Nepali national, early Saturday. Lama was allegedly tasked with arranging hideouts in Delhi and funding the module's activities. Police noted that Lama had previously been imprisoned in Thailand from 2001 to 2018, where he met Pakistani inmates associated with the network.
The arrests followed a security alert issued 20 days earlier warning of potential suicide and vehicle-mounted bomb attacks on crowded locations in Central Delhi, including the BJP headquarters.
