Around 30% of Delhi Voters May Be Struck Off Upcoming Draft Poll Roll

Around 30% of Delhi's 1.45 crore registered voters may not be included in the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on Aug 24 under a special intensive revision drive, election officials said.

The verification of credentials for nearly 32% of registered voters across the city is still pending, with the deadline for enumeration form collection and online submission concluding on Aug 17.

Officials noted that over 30% of the distributed forms remain uncollected. The primary reasons cited for the shortfall include voters being absent, shifted, deceased, or registered under duplicate entries. While election authorities initially estimated deletions would range between 15% and 20%, roughly 75% of voters whose forms could not be collected were found to have relocated.

A significant factor behind the missing forms is the large population living in rented accommodation across Delhi, as tenants frequently change residences without updating their addresses on their voter identity cards.

Election officials clarified that exclusion from the draft electoral roll does not result in permanent disenfranchisement. Affected residents can submit claims and objections between Aug 24 and Sept 23, including submitting Form 6 to register their new addresses.
