AAP Files ACB Complaint Over Alleged Rs 37-Crore Bicycle Procurement Scam

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) in Delhi, seeking a detailed inquiry into an alleged ₹37-crore scam in the procurement of bicycles worth ₹90 crore.
AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha submitted the complaint to the anti-graft agency along with supporting facts and documents. In a post on X, Mr. Jha stated that the party had provided all relevant information about the matter to the agency. He expressed hope that the ACB would conduct an honest investigation, uncover the truth behind the procurement, and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The submission to the ACB came as AAP leaders alleged that Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu had not granted them time for a meeting despite repeated requests to discuss irregularities in the procurement of bicycles, medicines, and rice.
AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj issued a statement criticising the L-G for failing to acknowledge the party's meeting requests. Mr. Bharadwaj stated that granting appointments to opposition leaders is a professional obligation and not a matter of personal choice, accusing the L-G of selectively meeting only those who please him.
Earlier, on August 16, Mr. Jha had written directly to the Lieutenant-Governor seeking a thorough investigation into the alleged procurement irregularities under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. In addition to formal correspondence, the party had also raised the issue through several public statements.
There was no official response from the Lieutenant-Governor’s office regarding the allegations. However, a source noted that the L-G had met Leader of Opposition and senior AAP leader Atishi at least twice since assuming office in March.
Mr. Jha further alleged that while senior AAP leader Satyendar Jain had been arrested despite having no involvement in the case, no administrative action had been initiated despite multiple complaints regarding the alleged procurement scams.
