Woman killed as concrete lifting machine collapses in Delhi's Begumpur

A 45-year-old woman was killed on Sunday morning in the Begumpur area of Delhi after a heavy concrete slab-lifting machine fell on her from an under-construction building. The victim, identified as Manju, died instantly while she was stepping out of her house to buy milk for breakfast.

According to the local police, the incident occurred as Manju was passing by the under-construction site. The heavy concrete slab-lifting machine, which was being used at the construction building, suddenly collapsed and fell directly onto her, causing her to die on the spot.

Eyewitnesses at the scene claimed that the tragic accident was entirely preventable. They alleged that the building owner had failed to implement basic safety measures at the site. According to local residents and witnesses, there were no barricades, warning signs, or safety arrangements in place to protect pedestrians who were using the path next to the under-construction building.

After receiving information about the collapse, the local police rushed to the spot in Begumpur. The police officers shifted Manju's body to a facility for a post-mortem examination.

An investigation has been initiated by the local police to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fatal accident. The authorities are currently looking into the allegations of negligence regarding the lack of safety measures at the construction site, as well as the role of the building owner in the incident.
