Woman Found Dead in Lahori Gate Hotel Room, Husband Found Unconscious

A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband inside a hotel in north Delhi’s Lahori Gate area on Thursday. Police suspect that the man also attempted to take his own life after carrying out the killing.

The incident came to light at around 5.20 am on Thursday when hotel staff alerted the police after discovering the woman lying in a pool of blood inside the room. Upon arrival, officials found the victim dead and her husband lying unconscious beside her.

Police identified the deceased woman as Shivani Kumari, who was originally from Samastipur in Bihar. Shivani worked at a beauty parlour in Old Delhi. Her husband, identified as 27-year-old Prakash Singh, is from Rajasthan, where he operates a tea stall.

Investigators stated that the couple had married about six months ago and initially lived together in Rajasthan. However, after staying with her husband for approximately a month, Shivani is suspected to have moved to Delhi, where she had been staying in rented accommodation in Old Delhi.

A preliminary inquiry revealed that the couple had been involved in an ongoing family-related dispute. According to police, Prakash travelled to Delhi on Wednesday and contacted Shivani upon arriving in the city, asking her to meet him at the hotel.

The couple checked into the hotel in the Lahori Gate area at around 3.30 pm on Wednesday afternoon. Investigators suspect that Prakash had planned the killing in advance and subsequently intended to take his own life inside the room.
