Woman Constable Rescues 16-Year-Old Girl at Hauz Khas Metro Station

A woman police constable saved the life of a 16-year-old girl who attempted to jump onto the tracks at the Hauz Khas metro station on Saturday. The teenager was later safely reunited with her father, who serves in the Border Security Force.
The incident took place when Constable Nikita noticed the teenager moving towards the metro tracks with an apparent intention to end her life. Acting quickly, the constable rushed toward the girl and restrained her in time.
Following the intervention, the officer alerted the police station, and the minor was escorted to the Yellow Line station control room.
According to police, the teenager was initially reluctant to share details regarding her identity or her family. Constable Nikita spoke with her patiently and provided reassurance, eventually obtaining the information required to trace her relatives.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Anand Dabhi praised the officer's swift response, noting that her prompt, courageous, and humane action prevented a tragedy and facilitated the minor's safe return to her family.
During subsequent inquiries, police discovered that the girl had been undergoing treatment for a mental health condition at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for approximately a year.
