Woman Arrested in Laxmi Nagar for Plotting to Extort Husband and Kill Mother-in-Law

The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a woman and her accomplice for allegedly conspiring to extort Rs 50 lakh from her businessman husband in Laxmi Nagar and plotting to kill her mother-in-law.
The arrested accused have been identified by the police as Sapna Jain and Rajat, who is a friend of Jain's sister. The arrests took place after the Delhi Police received a formal complaint from the victim, a businessman who runs a wholesale business in the Laxmi Nagar locality of Delhi.
According to the police, the complainant alleged that he had been receiving threatening phone calls and messages from an international number. The caller identified himself as a member of the Gogi Gang and demanded an extortion amount of Rs 50 lakh. The extortion attempt and threat occurred amid an ongoing domestic dispute between the businessman and his wife, Sapna Jain.
During the subsequent investigation into the threat calls, a team from the Delhi Police Special Cell tracked down and nabbed Rajat from Sonipat. Upon checking his criminal background, the police discovered that Rajat was already involved in multiple cases, including two cases under the Arms Act and one case of snatching.
The police inquiry further revealed that Rajat was in contact with several members of the Gogi gang. Among his active contacts was Rohit Moi, a jailed gangster. Investigators also found that Rajat was communicating with an extortionist based in the United States.
According to the police, Rajat was simultaneously in contact with the businessman's wife, Sapna Jain, and her sister. The investigation revealed that the accused had plotted to extort the Rs 50 lakh from the wholesale businessman and had also formulated a plan to eliminate Sapna Jain's mother-in-law.
