Woman and two children killed in BK Dutt Colony house fire in south Delhi

A woman and her two children were killed on Tuesday morning after a fire broke out inside a third-floor residential house in B-Block, BK Dutt Colony, in south Delhi's Lodhi Road area.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the department received an emergency call reporting the blaze at 10:21 AM. The affected house was located directly opposite Chawla Sweets in B-Block of the residential colony.

In response to the alert, the Delhi Fire Services immediately dispatched emergency vehicles to the spot. The deployment included one water tender, one water bowser, and one breathing apparatus tender to carry out the firefighting and rescue operations.

Upon reaching the building, the responding firefighters found that the fire had fully engulfed the house on the third floor. As teams battled the flames to contain the spread, rescue workers entered the premises and discovered three occupants inside.

A woman and her two children were found dead inside the residence, according to senior fire officials.

As the emergency operation continued, a senior fire official was rushed to the spot to directly supervise the firefighting efforts. The team brought the blaze under control by around 11:10 AM. Following this, firefighters carried out extensive cooling operations at the site to ensure there was no possibility of the fire reigniting.

The exact cause of the fatal fire has not yet been ascertained by the authorities. Police and fire department personnel are expected to examine the scene of the incident to determine what triggered the blaze, investigating whether an electrical fault or another factor was responsible.
