Uttam Nagar man arrested for kidnapping and raping 17-year-old girl in Northeast Delhi

The Delhi Police have rescued a 17-year-old girl and arrested a 22-year-old man from Uttam Nagar for allegedly kidnapping and raping her in Northeast Delhi. The suspect was taken into custody by the police early Sunday morning.

The investigation began after the victim's mother contacted the police on June 23. She reported that her daughter had been missing since June 20. According to the police, the family had been unable to locate the teenager, which led them to suspect that she had been kidnapped.

Following the mother's complaint, a police team registered a case and immediately launched an investigation. To trace the teenager's location, the police team analyzed electronic evidence, tracked technical leads, and gathered local intelligence.

The police successfully tracked the victim's location and rescued her. Following her rescue, the police recorded her statement. Officials noted that the victim has been provided with the appropriate support as required by legal protocols.

During police questioning, the 22-year-old suspect confessed to the crime. The police subsequently charged the man under sections 64(1) (Rape) and 87 (Kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He was also charged under Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused remains in police custody while officials continue their investigation into the matter.
