Two Women Arrested for Cheating 67-Year-Old of Rs 1.30 Lakh in Defence Colony

Delhi Police have arrested two women for allegedly befriending a 67-year-old man through a fake dating app profile, stealing his mobile phone during a meeting in Defence Colony, and siphoning Rs 1.30 lakh from his bank accounts.
The accused have been identified as 26-year-old Jyotsna and 21-year-old Manshi. According to investigators, the accused created a fictitious profile on a dating application to establish contact with the elderly complainant before arranging an in-person meeting.
Police said the victim initially connected with one of the women on the dating platform before shifting their communication to a private messaging application. He subsequently agreed to meet her and her associate for dinner.
On July 24, the complainant met both Jyotsna and Manshi at a restaurant located in Defence Colony. While leaving the eatery after dinner, the man's mobile phone was allegedly stolen.
Following the theft of the device, Rs 1.30 lakh was transferred without the victim's consent from his two bank accounts using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services.
After discovering the unauthorized financial transactions, the victim reported the matter, leading to the registration of an e-FIR at the southwest district cyber police station on July 25.
Investigators were able to trace and apprehend the two women after following the digital money trail, examining CCTV footage from the area, and deploying technical surveillance inputs.
