Two Motorcyclists Rob Cashiers of Rs 1.5 Crore En Route to Chandni Chowk
Two motorcycle-borne robbers intercepted real estate cashiers and stole Rs 1.5 crore in cash late Wednesday afternoon while the employees were on their way to deliver the money to a business establishment in Kucha Ghasi Ram in the Chandni Chowk area. The heist occurred around 3:00 PM as the cashiers travelled from Ashoka Park metro station towards Inderlok.
The victims, who work for a real estate firm based in west Delhi's Paschim Vihar, were carrying the cash on a scooter under instructions from the company's owner.
According to the police, the two employees left Paschim Vihar at approximately 2:30 PM. While they were riding towards their destination in Chandni Chowk, two unidentified men wearing red helmets on a red motorcycle suddenly overtook them and forced them to stop.
One of the assailants pulled out a pistol, brandished the weapon, and threatened the cashiers. The robbers snatched the bag containing Rs 1.5 crore and warned the employees of serious consequences if they resisted or raised an alarm.
The robbers then sped away on their motorcycle towards the Punjabi Bagh area. The entire robbery unfolded within a few seconds, leaving the cashiers with no time to react.
Following the heist, the employees alerted their employer and the police. Senior police officers and local teams arrived at the scene to record statements and initiate an investigation.
Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the robbery site and nearby roads to trace the suspects' escape route. Multiple police units, including district personnel and crime branch teams, are involved in the search. Police officials suspect the robbers may have acted on inside information or prior knowledge regarding the large cash transfer.
This heist is the latest in a series of high-profile robberies reported in north Delhi, particularly around commercial hubs such as Chandni Chowk, Sarai Rohilla, Gulabi Bagh, and Bara Hindu Rao.
In March, two employees carrying Rs 50 lakh from Kirti Nagar to Chandni Chowk in an autorickshaw were robbed near the Azad Market railway underpass by four men on two-wheelers, who fled with the cash.
