Two MLAs Among Six Injured in Car Crash at ITO in Delhi

Two MLAs were among six people injured in a road accident at the busy ITO intersection in central Delhi on Sunday night after an out-of-control car collided with their SUV, police said.
The injured legislators were identified as Anil Jha, the sitting MLA from Kirari, and Abhay Patel, an MLA from Karnataka. The accident occurred at around 9:30 pm when their vehicle was struck at the central Delhi intersection. All six injured individuals were rushed to LNJP Hospital for treatment, where police confirmed their condition was stable.
According to officials, the incident occurred when a Swift car suffered a cylinder burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The car hit a road divider near the PWD office, crashed through a railing, and collided with the Innova SUV in which the MLAs were travelling from the opposite direction.
The Swift was being driven by 32-year-old Ashutosh Pandey, who was travelling with his wife and two minor children from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO. The Innova was displaying a Karnataka Government board.
The impact left the Swift completely mangled and caused extensive damage to the front portion of the Innova. Visuals from the scene showed that all airbags in the vehicles had deployed during the collision.
Passersby and police personnel rushed to help the victims immediately after the crash. A team from the IP Estate Police Station reached the site, and the fire brigade was called to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway. The incident caused traffic disruptions at the ITO crossing for a period of time.
Police stated that an investigation is currently underway to establish the exact sequence of events, including the cause of the cylinder burst and the vehicle's speed during the crash.
