Two Men with Country-Made Pistols Arrested During Night Patrol in Gokalpuri

Two men were arrested in Gokalpuri, northeast Delhi, after police caught them in possession of illegal country-made pistols and live ammunition during a night patrolling operation, officials said on Thursday.

The accused have been identified by the police as 20-year-old Vishal alias "Puchu" and 19-year-old Sagar alias "Biryani". The arrests were made after patrolling teams spotted both suspects behaving suspiciously at two separate Delhi Development Authority (DDA) parks located in the area.

According to a senior police officer, a team was actively patrolling the neighbourhood when it first noticed Vishal at the DDA Park in D Block. Upon spotting the police personnel, Vishal allegedly attempted to flee from the spot. The police team chased him down and successfully apprehended him. A search of his possession led to the recovery of one country-made pistol and two live cartridges.

Following that apprehension, police conducted another operation at the DDA Park situated in A Block in Gokalpuri. There, the team spotted Sagar. When officers moved in to intercept the 19-year-old, he allegedly attempted to escape on foot. Police personnel chased Sagar, apprehended him, and subsequently recovered a country-made pistol along with three live cartridges from his possession.

During the course of the investigation, officers established a link between the two suspects, finding that both Vishal and Sagar had been seen together in videos and posts shared on social media, where they were flaunting firearms.

The police confirmed that separate First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered at the Gokalpuri police station regarding the recoveries of the unlicensed weapons and ammunition.

Regarding their backgrounds, police said that Vishal had no prior criminal records before his arrest. Sagar, on the other hand, had previously been involved in an attempted murder case. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway.
