Two Bishnoi-Linked Gangsters Shot and Arrested in Usmanpur Police Encounter
Two alleged gang members linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested on Monday morning following a police encounter and an exchange of gunfire in a forested area en route to Usmanpur in North East Delhi. Both suspects were shot in their left legs during the gunfight and subsequently taken into police custody.
The injured men were identified by the police as Mohammad Kaif and Mohammad Jaseem. Following the shootout, both Kaif and Jaseem, having sustained bullet wounds to their left legs, were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment while remaining under police custody.
According to police officials, the North East Delhi District Special Staff team had received advance information regarding the movement of the two accused. The tip-off indicated that Kaif and Jaseem were expected to reach their home in Usmanpur and would travel along a route passing through the forested area. Acting on this specific intelligence, the Special Staff team laid a trap along the stretch to intercept and arrest them.
As soon as Kaif and Jaseem reached the spot, they allegedly opened fire on the waiting police personnel. The officers retaliated with gunfire, triggering an armed encounter in which several rounds were fired from both sides. During this exchange of fire, police bullets struck both suspects in their left legs, bringing an end to the confrontation.
Two police personnel also came under direct fire during the encounter. Bullets fired by the suspects hit the bulletproof jackets worn by both officers. Because of the protective gear, the two personnel escaped unhurt and avoided sustaining any injuries.
Police sources stated that the two arrested men are allegedly associated with the Rashid Kevalwala gang, a criminal outfit that operates across Northeast Delhi. Investigators noted that the gang leader, Rashid Kevalwala, is himself allegedly associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
A further investigation is underway by the North East Delhi police to ascertain the detailed criminal background and past records of both accused men, as well as to determine the full extent of their alleged links with the gang.
