Two Bangladeshi Nationals Held in Nabi Karim and Paharganj for Overstaying Visas

Delhi Police have apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals from hotels in Nabi Karim and Paharganj for allegedly overstaying their visas in violation of the permitted 15-day limit per visit.

The two individuals were identified as Jomir Hossen, 25, and Maksuda Akter, 39. They were tracked down during a special verification drive conducted under Operation VISTA 1.0 across central Delhi.

According to police, both individuals had entered India on double-entry visas that allowed a maximum stay of 15 days per visit. During the verification process, officers determined that both had exceeded the permitted duration, violating their visa conditions.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh said the verification team was inspecting hotels and guest houses in the area when they located Hossen at a hotel on Arakashan Road in Nabi Karim. Police noted that Hossen had entered India on June 9.

The team subsequently traced Akter to a separate hotel situated in Chandi Wali Gali, Main Bazar in Paharganj, where she had been staying since June 27.

Police checked and verified their passports, visas, and related travel documents before apprehending them. The cases were referred to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for the required proceedings regarding the visa violations.

Following the referral, the FRRO issued restriction orders directing that both individuals be sent to a detention centre at Sewa Dham in Shahzada Bagh, Sarai Rohilla.
