Two Arrested for Stabbing and Robbing Chandni Chowk Jeweller Employee

Two men were arrested on Friday for allegedly stabbing a 32-year-old jewellery store employee from Chandni Chowk and robbing him of his gold chain and iPhone in the Sonia Vihar area of northeast Delhi, police said.

The incident took place at around 12:18 am on Wednesday near 1st Pusta in Sonia Vihar. The victim, identified as Pramod Yadav, works at a jewellery store in Chandni Chowk and was heading home when two unidentified men intercepted him and attempted to rob him.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Rahul Alwal, the assailants attacked Yadav with a sharp surgical blade when he resisted the robbery bid. The attackers robbed his 24-gram gold chain and an iPhone before fleeing the scene.

The Sonia Vihar police station received a distress call regarding an injured man at the spot. Yadav was immediately taken to a hospital by his family members, where he was admitted to an intensive care unit and underwent surgery for his injuries.

Following the attack, police registered a case of attempt to murder under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and formed an investigation team to trace the culprits.

Investigators identified the suspects as residents of Sonia Vihar and arrested them on Friday from an area near Chauhan Patti in northeast Delhi.

During interrogation, both suspects confessed to the crime. They disclosed that they had pawned the stolen gold chain at a local gold finance company in Sonia Vihar. Police subsequently recovered the 24-gram gold chain, the stolen iPhone, and ₹1.03 lakh in cash. The surgical blade used in the stabbing was also recovered from bushes near Chauhan Patti.
