Two Arrested for Slashing Chandni Chowk Worker with Surgical Blade in Sonia Vihar

Police have arrested two men for allegedly attacking a 32-year-old jewellery shop worker with a surgical blade and robbing him in northeast Delhi's Sonia Vihar. The victim, identified as Pramod Yadav, works at a jewellery shop in Chandni Chowk.

The incident took place when Yadav was returning home after parking his vehicle. While walking on the service road, he was intercepted by two men who assaulted him with a surgical blade to execute the robbery. The assailants fled the scene after taking his mobile phone and a gold chain weighing approximately 24 grams.

Police were alerted to the crime after receiving information from a hospital at 12:18 am on Wednesday. Due to the severity of his injuries, Yadav's family later shifted him to a private hospital in Shalimar Bagh. He was admitted to the intensive care unit and underwent surgery for his wounds.

Following the registration of a criminal case, police tracked down and apprehended the two suspects near Chauhan Patti. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mubbashir, 21, and Salman, 21. According to police, Salman has a prior criminal record and was previously involved in an attempted murder case.

During initial interrogation, the suspects disclosed that they had pawned the robbed 24-gram gold chain to a non-banking financial company. Following their disclosure, police recovered the stolen mobile phone directly from the accused, along with Rs 1 lakh in cash that they had received against the pawned ornament.

Investigators subsequently approached the non-banking financial company and recovered the victim's gold chain along with the related loan documents. Further legal proceedings in the case are underway.
