Two Arrested After 550-km Chase for Murder of 17-Year-Old in Adarsh Nagar

Delhi Police have arrested two men in Uttarakhand for allegedly shooting and stabbing a 17-year-old boy to death at the Lal Bagh slum cluster in northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar. The suspects were nabbed near the Chappar toll checkpoint after a 550-kilometre interstate chase.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Aman, 26, and Anuj alias Moni, 20. According to police, the murder took place on the night of August 12 and was rooted in rivalry between two local groups vying for area dominance.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern Range) Vijay Singh said the Adarsh Nagar police station received a report regarding a stabbing and firing incident at the Lal Bagh slum on August 12. Officers reached the location and found that the teenager had already been taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police said the victim sustained two bullet wounds in his abdomen and back, along with a stab injury. A friend of the victim, who witnessed the attack and managed to escape, identified the assailants to investigators.

According to police accounts, the victim and his friend encountered the two accused around 11:30 pm on August 12, leading to an argument. Aman and Anuj allegedly issued threats and left, only to return shortly after and attack the duo with firearms and a knife.

Following the incident, police registered a case under sections 103 (murder) and 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Special teams tracked the suspects' movements across state borders.

Investigators initially traced the accused to Uttar Pradesh, conducting multiple raids in Ghaziabad and nearby localities before learning that the pair had fled further north towards Haridwar in Uttarakhand.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Akanksha Yadav stated that the raiding team pursued the suspects across nearly 550 kilometres before intercepting them near the Chappar toll checkpoint while they were travelling in a rented car.

Police noted that Aman is affiliated with the local Sahib Salmani Brother gang and has six prior criminal cases against him. Anuj is linked to 15 previous cases and was also wanted in connection with a separate murder registered at Jahangirpuri police station earlier this year.
