Tuesday Rain Triggers Heavy Traffic On Noida Link Road And Key Corridors

Heavy afternoon rain on Tuesday triggered widespread waterlogging and severe traffic congestion across several key transit corridors, including the Noida Link Road, leaving commuters stranded for hours. The sudden downpour, which began around 2:00 PM, caused major disruptions on arterial routes and slowed travel through the evening rush hour.
Because the rain started around peak school dismissal hours, traffic on nearby roads slowed down almost immediately. By 4:00 PM, long queues of vehicles started building up, affecting traffic for hours on key stretches.
In addition to the Noida Link Road, the congestion heavily impacted the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, parts of the Ring Road, and key stretches in south Delhi. Navigation apps showed heavy congestion on stretches of the Ring Road, particularly near the Ashram crossing. Slow-moving traffic and waterlogging were also reported near Apollo Hospital in Sarita Vihar.
The Delhi Traffic Police reported significant congestion on several arterial roads throughout the evening as waterlogging and peak-hour traffic combined to choke the stretches. Congestion was reported around ITO, parts of the Ring Road, Mathura Road, and near AIIMS. The Delhi Traffic Police flagged these disruptions on social media along with travel instructions for commuters.
Commuters described being stranded for long periods. Rajeev, a commuter traveling through south Delhi, reported being stuck for 90 minutes in a massive traffic snarl stretching from Saket to beyond the Chirag Dilli crossing. He noted that it had rained with force for only 30 minutes.
Another commuter, Arjun, who was traveling from Vasundhara Enclave to Connaught Place, said he left around 2:10 PM but was stuck for nearly 40 minutes because a broken-down vehicle blocked a lane along his route, further complicating the post-rain commute.
